Warning Points - What Are They?

What are Warning Points?

The Warning Point system is an integrated feature of our forum software. It's a disciplinary system in which we warn registered members of unwanted actions in the JWTalk Community. It's worth noting that if you conduct yourself like a Christian, behave at JWTalk like you would in a Kingdom Hall, and follow the Community Membership Policy that you agreed to follow when you registered for an account with us, then you will never receive any Warning Points.

Unwanted actions that violate our Community Membership Policy can include: arguing; obscene speech; posting inappropriate links, images, or comments; private message harassment; trolling; elder bashing; arguing with the Staff; being critical of the organization or promoting unscriptural teachings, and more. Certain restrictions are imposed automatically via the system when points are issued.

For almost every infraction, you will usually be warned in TWO STEPS.

The first step is called a "Notification of Moderator Review". This is triggered if no Staff is online and multiple members click the "Report" on your post, OR if multiple Staff members agree that you are violating our Community Membership Policy. If you are a Full Access User, upon receiving a "Notification of Moderator Review" your content will be held in moderation for the next 12 hours. This means that while you can still participate in discussions, your posts will have to be approved by a Staff member before becoming visible to other members.

The Notification of Moderator Review imposes 1 point that expires very quickly, within hours, because there is another step in this process: The results of the Moderator Review.

The second step is the results of the Moderator Review, and is the official, more descriptive Warning. The Staff will discuss the post that triggered a Notification of Moderator Review and decide what point value will be imposed with this Warning. If you are a Full Access User, upon receiving these official Warning Points your posts will be subject to moderation for the same number of days as you have accumulated in points.

For example, if we impose 3 Warning Points, you will be in moderation for 3 days. Then a week later the Staff discusses another infraction and decides to impose 3 more Warning Points. You will now have 6 points and will be in moderation for 6 days.

Points do not last forever.

1 Corinthians 13:5 says love "does not keep account of the injury", therefore, Warning Points will expire over time. The Notification of Moderator Review imposes 1 point that drops off in 3 hours. The step 2 official Warnings will expire between 3 months and 5 months depending on the severity of the infraction. By listening to the Staff and complying with the Community Membership Policy, your imposed Moderation time and Warning Points will all eventually be removed.

Don't Let Warning Points Continue Growing

The Warning Point system is designed to enforce the Community Membership Policy and elicit cooperation with the Staff. If you don't accept correction and continue to accumulate Warning Points, your membership at JWTalk Community will be terminated.

About JWTalk.net - Jehovah's Witnesses Online Community

Since 2006, JWTalk has proved to be a well-moderated online community for real Jehovah's Witnesses on the web. However, our community is not an official website of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is not endorsed, sponsored, or maintained by any legal entity used by Jehovah's Witnesses. We are a pro-JW community maintained by brothers and sisters around the world. We expect all community members to be active publishers in their congregations, therefore, please do not apply for membership if you are not currently one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
