August Super Moons

We have the opportunity to see two super moons in August 2023. If it is cloudy in your area you can go to Space.com where The Virtual Telescope Project based outside of Rome, Italy will be hosting a free telescope livestream of August's first full moon starting at 2:40 p.m. ET. I have always loved seeing the moon, especially super moons. I try to take a photo with my DSLR. It's not the best camera or lens but I get decent shots that I enjoy. Where I live in Western Oregon the weather will be clear. 

 

The second super moon is August 30-31. The moon will be even closer the night of Aug. 30 — a scant 222,043 miles! It won't happen again until 2037, according to Italian astronomer Gianluca Masi, founder of the Virtual Telescope Project.
