1967 Movies Sidney Poitier

I will always remember 1967 for these three movies. I was 8 years old when they came out. My parents were celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary and were going out to dinner and a movie. The movie was "In the Heat of the Night" starring Sydney Poiter and Rod Steiger. I watched the remake of this movie with the TV series of the same name. I never got around to watching the actual movie until about 6 years when Blockbuster was going out of business. I got the DVD for 25 cents.

 

Our parents took us to the movie "To Sir, With Love" in 1967 but we fell asleep in the car as it was at the drive-in. Again, I waited to watch the movie again until just a few years ago. The last of his movies that I recently saw was " Guess Who's coming to Dinner". It's hard to believe all three of these movies came out in 1967 with Sydney Poiter as the lead actor.

I've seen them all, great movies, I especially liked Rod Steiger's character as the fast talking, gum chewing policeman.

Don't forget Dr. Pepper drinking! I just read that George C. Scott was the first choice. I guess he made up for turning the role down when he appeared in the tv series. Rod Steiger was offered the role of Patton but turned it down and George C. Scott got that role. Both won academy awards for those movies.
