Glory be to Jesus and the elders

Recommended Posts

Revelation 1:16
And he had seven stars in his right hand, and out of his mouth was a long, sharp, two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining with all its might.

17-18
When I saw him, I fell as if dead at his feet. Then he put his right hand on me and said, "Don't be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the one who lives. I was dead, but now I live forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and the grave.

Jesus gave John his first vision, something extraordinary and it had to do with the elders.

It was an encouragement to an old man who was stuck on an island, elderly and who had no prospect of a future until then.

John must have been very encouraged to know that the same "right hand" that oversaw him and the other elders was also placing the same "right hand" on him to encourage and strengthen him to continue being an elder and not give up.

Today, elders who provide valuable service in congregations can remember this vision and know that our Lord Jesus, glorified King, oversees our work but at the same time is with us strengthening us to do our best.
