Was Rodney King a Witness?

I was reading an article about Rodney King, who just passed away. Does anyone know if he was ever baptized? Here is the paragraph:

Even when he imagined things going well he spoke of how nothing is promised to anyone, how any day might be his last. He didn't want to take his time on Earth for granted. Rodney King was raised by a deeply religious family of Jehovah's Witnesses. He said that before he passed on he needed to get closer to "Jehovah God." He said he was working on this. He promised he'd get there one day, even though to him that would mean giving up things like drinking.

Certainly does not sound like it.

It says he was raised by a witness family, and he wanted to get closer to Jehovah but hadn't.

That does not sound like a baptized person to me.

When someone says "before he passed on he needed to get closer to "Jehovah God." He said he was working on this. He promised he'd get there one day"

That sounds like someone who hoped to be baptized, but never did.

Just because a person was raised by a Witness family does not mean they are thinking of returning to the truth .

We used to have a lovely family in our congr. who raised two sons. The older one went on to become notorious and was wanted by Interpol in several countries for large scale fraud and theft.

His choices were made as an adult and caused great pain to his parents . . but nobody blames his family for his outcome.
