Elmo opens up to TODAY about tweet that sparked intense reaction

Recommended Posts

How are you doing? Elmo simply posted on X asking ‘How is everybody doing?’ goes viral. I totally missed this, but got caught up in the news about it. The emotional responses the tweet received was interesting. A lot of people are hurting, burned out, overwhelmed.

In the United States, saying "How you doing" is more of a greeting than an actual concern for how you are doing. If this simple tweet can invoke strong responses emotionally, how much more so in the Congregation. If we have not seen someone at the meeting in awhile, ask how they are doing. If someone who normally contributes at the meeting suddenly goes quiet, tell them you miss their contributions.

Of course we know Elmo is not a real person, maybe that makes it easier to bare the good and the painful parts of our lives.

Here in Australia we have a day called "R U OK", which this year it is held on the 12th September 2024. It is primarily about preventing suicides, but it tries to assist those before they do comptemplate that and hopefully get help in whatever areas that they need help. But it is encouraged by all to ask this whenever we see if any are struggling or hiding their struggles.
