Thursday, August 1

A book of remembrance was written before him for those fearing Jehovah and for those meditating on his name.—Mal. 3:16.

Can you think of a reason why Jehovah would record in his “book of remembrance” the names of those whose speech shows that they fear him and meditate on his name? Our speech reveals what is in our heart. Jesus said: “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Matt. 12:34) Jehovah wants those who love him to enjoy life forever in the new world. The way we speak can determine whether Jehovah will accept our worship. (Jas. 1:26) Some of those who do not love God speak in an aggressive, harsh, and proud way. (2 Tim. 3:1-5) We do not want to be like them. We are eager to please Jehovah with our speech. But could Jehovah be pleased with us if we used gracious and kind speech at our Christian meetings or in the ministry but spoke in a harsh and unloving way to family members behind closed doors?—1 Pet. 3:7. w22.045 ¶4-5

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

Jehovah’s recording of names in His “book of remembrance,” as mentioned in Malachi 3:16, signifies His recognition and appreciation of those who genuinely fear and respect Him. This practice underscores the value Jehovah places on individuals who sincerely serve Him, highlighting their significance in His eyes. Let’s explore the deeper reasons and implications behind this divine record-keeping.

 The Importance of Speech
Our speech is a reflection of our innermost thoughts and feelings. As Jesus stated in Matthew 12:34, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” This suggests that our words often reveal our true character and inner spirituality. Jehovah values those whose speech reflects their deep respect and love for Him, indicating a heart aligned with His principles.

Eternal Life in the New World
Jehovah’s ultimate goal is for those who love Him to enjoy eternal life in His new world. The way we speak plays a crucial role in determining whether our worship is acceptable to Him. James 1:26 warns that a person who considers themselves religious but does not control their tongue is deceiving themselves, and their religion is worthless. Thus, controlling our speech is integral to our worship and relationship with Jehovah.

 Contrast with the Ungodly
2 Timothy 3:1-5 describes people in the last days as “lovers of themselves,” “boastful,” “haughty,” and “abusive.” These negative speech patterns are indicative of hearts far removed from Jehovah. As Christians, we strive to distinguish ourselves from such attitudes, ensuring that our speech is always uplifting and reflective of our godly values.

 Consistency in Speech
Consistency in our speech, both publicly and privately, is essential. 1 Peter 3:7 emphasizes the importance of treating family members with love and respect. If we use gracious and kind speech in public but are harsh and unloving at home, we fail to embody the spirit of Christian love. Jehovah sees all aspects of our conduct, valuing integrity and consistency in how we treat others.

 Practical Application
To please Jehovah with our speech, we should:

1. Cultivate a Heart of Love: Regularly meditate on Jehovah’s qualities and strive to reflect them in our speech. A heart full of love, kindness, and humility will naturally produce positive speech.

2. Be Mindful of Our Words: Before speaking, consider whether our words will build up or tear down. Aim to encourage and support others with our words, reflecting Jehovah’s love and compassion.

3. Maintain Consistency: Strive for consistency in our speech, ensuring that our words are kind and respectful in both public and private settings. This includes how we speak to our family members, treating them with the same love and respect we show to others.

4. Engage in Regular Self-Examination: Periodically evaluate our speech and conduct. Ask ourselves if our words are in harmony with Jehovah’s principles and make adjustments as needed to align more closely with His will.

By adhering to these principles, we demonstrate our genuine fear of Jehovah and our meditation on His name, ensuring that our names remain recorded in His “book of remembrance” as those who truly love and serve Him.

This is what a Brain researcher wrote:

Every new thought becomes smarter, sharper and more precise when you discuss it in detail with another person.
Third parties help you find out what you haven't thought of yourself yet.
It is therefore always worth having a conversation with someone you trust in order to share your thoughts. In this way, an initial idea can ultimately develop into something really great.

Jehovah is very pleased about such conversations or text messages
