Two fish

Two fish were swimming through the water and saw a worm in front of them. One fish said to the other: “Watch out! The worm is stuck on a hook.” “So what?” “The hook is attached to a line.” “That may be so.” “The line is attached to a rod.” “And what else?” “The rod is held by a man.”
“He can go ahead and do that.” “Are you crazy?! If one of us eats the worm, the iron hook will drill into our head, we'll be pulled out and end up in the frying pan.” “Haha! My grandma used to tell that story when I was little. It's all nonsense! No one has ever come back from the frying pan to confirm it. If you leave the tasty worm, I'll eat it!” The incredulous fish ate the worm and really did end up in the frying pan.
In fact, he didn't come back to tell the other fish...

Are there not parallels to be drawn here with some opinions and attitudes towards the existence of a god?
