When The Air Changes...You Know Something Is Coming!

Recommended Posts

Did you know that humans can smell petrichor...(the scent after rain)...at concentrations 200,000 times fainter than a shark smells blood.🤯

What does this teach me?

Jehovah designed us to sense refreshment before it arrives.

And spiritually speaking, He’s doing the same today!

Isaiah 58:11: "Jehovah will always lead you And satisfy you even in a parched land; He will invigorate your bones, And you will become like a well-watered garden, Like a spring whose waters never fail."

How amazing is that verse when you really stop to break it down and think about it?

Jehovah promises that He will lead you, satisfy you even in parched places...and make you like a well-watered garden!!

I found that phrase, "well-watered garden" so interesting during my personal study that I looked up the Hebrew word to see what it meant: "Ravah"...meaning saturated, overflowing with life!!

My brain tied all this together late last night as I was getting ready to fall asleep...and I shared my raw "data" on this subject with a brother and sister I know very well late last night. Imagine my surprise this morning when I saw the following message from this couple regarding my research:

"Good morning, Tim. We always love when you share some of your research with us. We were talking it over last night before we went to sleep and my wife came up with the following thoughts she wanted to share with you:

I never knew that about "petrichor"...but I have ALWAYS loved that smell!! Thank you so much for identifying it for me! I am going to write this in my notes now on Isaiah 58:11!!"

So friends...I will leave you with the following: When you catch those first subtle hints of Jehovah's care; a scripture that lands just right, a word from a brother or sister that hits the need you hadn’t voiced...that’s not coincidence.

That’s the air changing!

That’s Jehovah already sending the rain. And you’re tuned in enough to smell it coming!

At age 81 my "smeller" does not work as well as it did when I was in grade school.

But, when living in central Illinois in the 1950s, I remember the air smelled differently just before it began to snow. And, the power lines next to the railroad tracks behind the house changed to a light blue color.

But, that was 70+ years ago. I can no longer smell impending snow (besides, it very rarely snows in Florida, even in the northernmost counties).

Thanks,

Jim

Wow, that I didn't know!!

The power lines changed to a light blue color before it used to snow?

Wow, that would have been crazy to see, especially as a young person!!

Thanks for sharing ☺️

Not knowing anything about the insulation around the wires, and how that might interact with the humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, etc., just before the snow began to fall, I do not know why.

These power lines were parallel to Illinois Central Rail railroad tracks just south of Springfield.

I do not remember it being that way all the time, but it was often enough that when I saw it I knew snow would come within a couple of hours.

Thanks,

Jim

Some people think that it was never supposed to rain and that it won't rain in the new system. It makes you wonder why Jehovah would create us to smell rain if he never purposed for it to rain. It teaches me that we don't know everything. :whistling:

Now THAT is an interesting thought 🤔

But us humans always have the tendency to think we have everything figured out, until we get a little bit more humility and realize we know next to nothing🤣

Wow, well I've often wondered about things like that, like when you hear somebody say they can tell it's going to rain because of the aches and pains in their legs or joints come I'm pretty sure there's some science behind that somewhere although I don't know where or what it would be.

I think that it is interesting that we can smell the rain coming, we can see a storm in the distance, we can often hear it coming, some people can feel it in their bones, yet people still get caught in the rain because they didn't pay attention to the signs. It reminds me that the biggest storm in history is coming and many people aren't paying attention to the signs.

That...this right here⤴️ is extremely true. It's not like we haven't told them, it's like they're apathetic and don't really seem to care if it does come, until it really does come...and then it's too late!

I appreciate Zeph 1:14, 15. I know you like deep research, I think you will enjoy researching that scripture.

I really like this call, brother @Tortuga, and gives me and idea to integrate it into my next public talk. Thanks a lot.

Also, thank-you, brother @Timl1980 for this thread on the petrichor.
