Ancient inscription possibly from Moses found in Egypt

Recommended Posts

Possible Early Reference to Moses?

Recent media reports cite researcher Michael S. Bar-Ron, who claims to have found two Proto-Sinaitic inscriptions in Egypt’s Sinai desert that may read “This is from Moses” and “Declaration of Moses.” If verified, they would be the earliest known non-biblical mentions of Moses, dating to around 1800–1600 BCE.

However, specialists caution that Proto-Sinaitic inscriptions are notoriously hard to decipher, and the reading “Moshe” is far from confirmed. Most scholars consider the claim intriguing but highly preliminary. Peer-reviewed publication and independent verification are still pending.

For now, it’s fair to say: the find is real; the interpretation is not yet proven.
