*LESSONS WE LEARN FROM TODAY'S TEXT*

Psalm 130:4 (True Forgiveness)

1. No one is free from sin, not even faithful servants of Jehovah.

2. Unconfessed sin weighs heavily on the heart, causing emotional and spiritual pain.

3. Jehovah wants us to approach him, not hide from him because of guilt.

4. True forgiveness comes from Jehovah, not from self-justification.

5. Sincere repentance moves Jehovah to act in our behalf.

6. Jehovah completely removes forgiven sins, he does not keep record of them.

7. We should not keep punishing ourselves for sins Jehovah has already forgiven.

8. Jehovah’s forgiveness is loving and powerful, not partial or temporary.

9. Understanding Jehovah’s mercy builds trust and deepens our relationship with him.

10. Gratitude for forgiveness motivates obedience, humility, and loyal service.

Encouraging Lesson:

When we truly repent, Jehovah does not want us living under guilt. He wants us to walk forward with confidence, knowing our sins have been lifted away.

With you there is true forgiveness.—Ps. 130:4.

In the Bible, sins are often likened to heavy burdens. King David described his own sins this way: “My errors loom over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too much for me to bear.” (Ps. 38:4) But Jehovah pardons the sins of repentant wrongdoers. (Ps. 25:18; 32:5) The Hebrew expression translated “pardon” basically means to “lift up” or “carry.” We might think of Jehovah as a strong man who figuratively lifts the burden of sin off our shoulders and carries it away. Another word picture shows just how far away Jehovah carries our sins. Psalm 103:12 tells us: “As far off as the sunrise is from the sunset, so far off from us he has put our transgressions.” East is the farthest point from west. The two points never meet. In other words, Jehovah takes our sins as far away from us as we can imagine. What a reassuring way to describe his forgiveness! w25.02 9 ¶5-6

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

💬 Commentary

Jehovah does not minimize sin, but He deeply values sincere repentance. The Bible shows that the weight of guilt can be crushing, but Jehovah acts with love by “carrying” this burden away. He does not hold grudges nor does He bring up forgiven errors. His forgiveness is complete, restorative, and brings true peace to the heart of the one who trusts in His mercy and approaches Him with humility and genuine repentance.

📌 Practical Lesson

When we make a mistake, we must not allow guilt to distance us from Jehovah. Instead, it is essential to pray sincerely, confess the error, and fully trust in His forgiveness. Once we have repented, we need to accept that forgiveness and move forward, without dwelling on the past. By doing so, we show faith in Jehovah’s mercy and keep our hearts calm and focused on serving Him with joy.

When Psalm 130:4 says, “With You there is forgiveness,” it doesn’t sound rushed. It sounds settled. Almost like Jehovah isn’t surprised that forgiveness is needed — He’s prepared for it. That changes how we approach Him. We’re not sneaking in. We’re not hoping He’s in a good mood. Forgiveness is already there, waiting to be given.

And it’s not careless forgiveness either. It’s deliberate. Jehovah chooses it. That makes it feel firming, not emotional or temporary. When He forgives, it holds.

What works out is the reason the verse gives. Forgiveness leads to reverence. Not fear that pushes us back — but a kind that draws us closer. The kind that makes you want to listen more carefully. Reverence and awe.

We can't worship freely when guilt is sitting heavy on us. But forgiveness makes the space. Not just legitimately — relationally. You’re able to breathe again, pray again and speak openly  again.

And maybe that’s why forgivin people often become more forgiving themselves. Once you know what it feels like to be lifted, it’s harder to press others down.

Jehovah is not revisiting what He already carried away. And, it makes walking forward possible. Not perfectly. Just… forward one step at a time

The verse doesn’t say everything.  It leaves room for gratitude. The kind that stays with you longer than words.

If you want, we can rough it up slightly more — or make it even more conversational, like a forum reply instead of a reflection.
