“Open — and Jehovah lets light into your heart”

Recommended Posts

Just for a moment…
imagine something very simple…

A refrigerator.

It stands there… quiet… unmoving…
maybe in a corner of your kitchen.

From the outside… it seems completely ordinary.

You can’t see what’s inside.
You can’t hear anything.
You can’t feel anything.

And yet…

we all know:

Inside… there is something valuable.

Something that nourishes us.
Something that gives us strength.
Something that sustains life.

But…

as long as it remains closed…
everything stays hidden.

And the light?

It only turns on…
when you open it.

Isn’t that a touching illustration…
for something we have near us every day?

The Bible.

Maybe it’s on your bedside table.
Maybe on the table in your living room.
Maybe even within reach on your phone.

So close.

And yet…
sometimes so far away.

Because as long as it stays closed…
the light stays off.

Not just any light.

But the light that warms our heart.
The light that understands us.
The light that tells us:
“You are not alone.”

Brothers and sisters…

how often are there days…
when our heart feels heavy?

Days when thoughts become loud…

Thoughts like:
“I’m not good enough.”
“I can’t do this.”
“Jehovah can’t really be pleased with me…”

And especially on those days…

the Bible sometimes remains closed.

Why?

Because we are tired.
Because we are empty.
Because maybe we even feel a little ashamed.

But exactly then…

exactly then…

we need the light the most.

Now I would like to invite you…
to imagine a scene very vividly.

It is evening.

A brother… or a sister… is sitting alone in their room.

The light is dim.

The day has been long.

Maybe there were disappointments.
Maybe something was said… that is now regretted.
Maybe there is simply the feeling… of not being enough.

The thoughts grow louder.

Heavier.

Darker.

And there…
just a few centimeters away…

lies the Bible.

But the heart whispers:

“Not today.”
“You’re not worthy.”
“Jehovah surely doesn’t want to hear from you right now.”

Do you know moments like that?

These quiet battles…
that no one sees…

but that feel so real?

And then…

very gently…

the person reaches for the Bible.

Not strong.
Not confident.

But hesitant.

Maybe with tears in their eyes.

And then…

they open it.

And in that very moment…

the light turns on.

Not visible in the room.

But felt in the heart.

Their eyes fall on a verse.

Maybe Psalm 34:18:

“Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted;
He saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

And suddenly…

it feels as if Jehovah himself is speaking.

Not loudly.
Not harshly.
Not condemning.

But gently.

Lovingly.

Deeply.

“I am here.”
“I see you.”
“I know your heart.”
“And I am close to you.”

And in that moment…

something changes.

Maybe not the circumstances.
Maybe not immediately the problems.

But the heart…

becomes calmer.

Lighter.

Comforted.

Brothers and sisters…

that is exactly what happens…
when we open.

The Bible is not just a book.

It is Jehovah’s voice.

His heart.

His thoughts… about you.

In Psalm 119:105 it says:

“Your word is a lamp to my foot
and a light for my path.”

A lamp doesn’t help…
if it remains turned off.

And a path does not become brighter…
if we stay standing in the dark.

Jehovah has given us His Word…
because He loves us.

Because He knows…
how often we need light.

Here is another illustration:

Imagine someone writes you a letter every day.

Every single day.

With loving words.

With thoughts like:
“I’m thinking of you.”
“I’m proud of you.”
“I am here for you.”

But…

you never open the letters.

What happens?

The love is there.
The words are there.

But they don’t reach you.

Not because they aren’t powerful enough…

but because they remain unopened.

Isn’t that exactly what sometimes happens?

Jehovah writes to us.

Every day.

Through His Word.

But we have to open.

Maybe you’re thinking now:

“Sometimes I read…
but I don’t feel anything.”

Then the question might be:

Am I only opening the pages…

or am I also opening my heart?

Jehovah is not looking for perfect readers.

He is looking for honest hearts.

Hearts that say:

“Jehovah… I am tired.”
“Jehovah… I don’t understand everything.”
“Jehovah… but I need you.”

And every time we open like that…

the light turns on.

Maybe very quietly.

Maybe very gently.

But always real.

Always loving.

Always from Jehovah.

So…

the next time you have a difficult moment…

when your heart grows quiet…

when your thoughts pull you down…

then remember this simple thought:

The refrigerator…

the light only turns on…
when you open it.

And you can only take something out of it…
under the same condition.

Open the Bible.

Not out of obligation.

But out of longing.

Open it…

and let Jehovah speak to your heart.

Because when you open…

you will realize:

You were never alone.

Jehovah was there the whole time…

waiting…

so patiently…

so lovingly…

until you open…

and His light fills your heart.
