“Jehovah — a God to whom such a thing would never even come to mind”

“Jehovah — a God to whom such a thing would never even come to mind”

Just imagine the following for a moment …
A mother is holding her small child in her arms.
The child looks at her with complete trust … completely secure … completely safe.

And now imagine — that very trust is abused.
Not by an enemy … but in the name of religion.

Even the thought of that hurts.
And that is exactly what happened in the past.

📖 What actually happened

The Bible openly speaks about the fact that some peoples sacrificed their children.

Let’s read Jeremiah 7:31:

“… they have built the high places of Topheth … in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, something that I had not commanded and that had never even come into my heart.”

“… that had never even come into my heart.”

That is remarkable.

Jehovah does not just say: “I forbid this.”
He says: “This does not fit me at all. Such a thought does not belong to me.”

💔 A brief illustration

Imagine a loving father.

His small child runs toward him, falls … and begins to cry.

What does the father do?

He immediately picks the child up.
He comforts it.
He protects it.

Now imagine someone claiming that this father would deliberately want to hurt his child.

That would be completely absurd.

And that is exactly how wrong it is to associate Jehovah with such cruel acts.

The contrast could not be greater

False worship back then led to:

• fear
• cruelty
• lack of love

But what is Jehovah like?

Let’s look at Psalm 127:3:

“Look! Sons are an inheritance from Jehovah; the fruit of the womb is a reward.”

Children, to Jehovah, are:

👉 not a sacrifice
👉 not a means
👉 but a gift

❤️ Jesus shows us Jehovah’s heart

Then Jesus came — and perfectly showed what Jehovah is really like.

In Mark 10:14 we read:

“Let the young children come to me; do not try to stop them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such ones.”

Imagine that scene:

Children run to Jesus.
He does not turn them away.
He takes them into his arms.
He blesses them.

That is Jehovah’s heart.

💭 What do we learn from this?

Some may ask:

Why does Jehovah even allow such things to happen?

The Bible shows:

Jehovah has given humans free will.
Sadly, some have abused it — with terrible consequences.

But what is important is:

👉 Jehovah has never approved of such actions
👉 and he will put an end to them

A second illustration (emotional conclusion)

Imagine a beautiful garden.

A loving gardener plants delicate flowers there.
He waters them … protects them … cares for them.

But then someone comes and brutally destroys some of these flowers.

Would anyone blame the gardener?

Of course not.

And it is the same with Jehovah.

He is the one who gives life, protects, and loves.
The cruelty does not come from him — but from people who have distanced themselves from him.

💖 Final thought

So when we hear about such terrible things, we should never forget one thing:

Jehovah is not a God who inspires fear.
He is not a God of cruelty.

He is a God
who comforts,
who protects,
and who will one day bring every form of suffering to an end forever.

And that is exactly why …
we can trust him completely.
