  1. We are planning a Bethel trip for early Fall next year. We will visit all three locations. We will have a few kids in the group (6y - 14y). We will be staying three extra days. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do in the area. No more than 2 hours driving distance. The hotel will be centrally located (to the three locations). We are looking for nature activities. At least outside activities. We don't want to go into the city. Thanks for all suggestions and tips 🙂
  2. From the album: JWTalk - Through the years

In early 2013, we started having severe issues with Phorum and HostGator, our hosting provider at the time. Development of the open source Phorum software had come to a halt and was essentially abandoned, and HostGator kept shutting us down because we were too busy, taxing the resources of the shared server we were on. So we got our own server in New York, but when we tried to move our Phorum over to the new server, it turned out that much of the technology powering our server was new, and the old Phorum software was not compatible. So, thanks to a well supported donation drive, we purchased new software from Invision Power Services and converted everything to it. It was a wild ride but we ironed things out and JWTalk had regular updates over the years.
  3. Has anyone experienced the three hour World Power Tour offered in connection with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City? My family and I will be there in June and plan to go, and I am so excited! It is a non-profit organization that uses full-time pioneers as guides. I would love to hear from those who have actually gone on the tour and have suggestions. Didn't know they have been operating since 1998 = check out www.worldpowertour.info if you want more info.
  4. So it looks like our local lad Banksy is taking New York by storm this month. Some people call it mindless vandalism, although how they can call it mindless when often he is so thought provoking, i don't know. The public in general are intrigued by his work, and the owners of the property he produces his work on are often quite defensive of the newly acquired art on their buildings. Usually because he has overnight, depending on the size of the work, increased the value of the property by at least $100,000 if not more. Some people just don't get it, nor do they appreciate it but the majority of people do like his work and find it both interesting, thought provoking and a good photo opportunity. I think most of his stuff is great even if some people think he is breaking the law, although most people don't view it as vandalism (just ask the majority of the owners of the buildings he produces his work on) but a form of art. It seems like there are mindless clowns going around trying to vandalize his work in not even a clever way, just with a rubbish graffiti tag. This is obviously being done out of jealousy. So is this clown vandalizing vandalism or is he vandalizing art? So what is your view? Do you like Banksy? Banksy is in new york for another 13 days. I wonder what he has done today or is going to do today. I am interested are you?
