Teacher bans reading the bible during free time at public school

A Florida school teacher has banned a student from reading the bible during a free reading period at school. His parents have hired an attorney and are suing the school system. We will see what they rule in this case.

After reading the story, this sounds like a sue happy parent trying to make some point that doesn't exist (looking for his 15 minutes of fame ).

The Broward School District claimed it was told Giovanni was reading the Bible when he should have been reading an assigned book, not during free-reading time. The district stressed that any student may read the Bible, or any other religious book, during free time.

The Fox News tonight mentioned that the district rule was that you may read the Bible before or after school but not during the school day, but they decided that they would allow it after discussing this with the school board, however, the family wants an apology from the teacher. No mention on dropping the lawsuit which I really feel the same thing in that this was for attention purposes....it seems.
