Another fire is brewing in Africa. Let us think of our brothers and sisters in these countries where the preaching work is banned and our brothers are in prison.

Tension is rising again between Eritrea and Ethiopia, more than a decade after their border conflict.

On the one hand, President Issayas Afeworki of Eritrea has been trying for several months to unite the Ethiopian opposition organisations in an attempt to destabilise the government in Addis Ababa. On the other hand, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi recently announced that he would support Eritrean rebels overthrow the regime in Asmara.

Putting his words into action, he is now reportedly to gather armed opposition groups east of Ethiopia. We are back in a world of political manoeuvring and attempts at political destabilisation on both sides of the border.

A new armed conflict can break out at any moment.
