History of USA Census

 It is odd that I toss out the copies of USA Census about 2 days ago. Since the NAACP problem came up and was a hot topic, so I decided dig in my recycle box to reuse it to post for a new topic on the history of the USA Census. The Census in USA started in 1790. It may be good of keeping numbers of people. However, it came with many problems that consist prejudices. Not just with race, but,with people just like you and I. So here I go and don't enjoy this because it is sad.

 

 1. 1790 Census - Mentions free white males and females , all other persons and slaves. I might add slaves were view as property and not    human beings

 

 2. 1800 Census -  Same

 

 3. 1810  Census - Same

 

 4. 1820 Census -  Mentions foreigners not naturalized, slaves consist of different age groups and free colored persons that consist of different  age groups 

.

5. 1830 Census - Mentions - Free White Person on top, Slave, free color persons at the bottom, free white persons who deaf, dumb, and blind, slaves and colored who death, dumb and blind.

 

 6. 1840 Census - Free White and colored persons on top, slaves and deaf, dumb, blind, idiots and insane people at the bottom.

 

 7. 1850 Census - The list switch to vertical. Mulatto was added and slaves were booted out, people who were older than 20 who cannot read  and  write was added in and convict too. 

 

 8. 1860 Census - Same

 

 9. 1870 Census - Chinese and Indians were added in and Constitutional relations regarding who is criminal or not who has the right to vote.

 I cannot believe this, now Chinese and Indians are viewed as human beings .

 

 10. 1880 Census - Ones health was added as being bed ridden, crippled, and disabled 

 

 11. 1910 Census - The language you speak was added in. But, I don't it was added in the 1890 or 1900 Census

 

 12. 1920 Census - Nativity and Mother Tongue was added and able to speak English too.

 

 I see  a lot of problems here. Can you see it? If so, please bring it out.
