This is now headed to historic Multnomah Falls. So far the lodge is standing but the fires are raging. A sister told me, she lives near the fires, it started with fireworks from a teenager. I guess they have him in custody. I had to do a separate google to confirm that.

So far along the oceans we've avoided problems but now noaa is issuing a Red Alert for us. If I'm not mistaken this is in Oregon too not just WA.

Red Flag Warning Issued for Pacific County

South Bend, Washington – The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Red Flag Warning, which replaces a previously issued Fire Weather Watch, for all of Pacific County, which is in effect from 3:00 p.m. today, Wednesday September 6 - 11:00 p.m. Thursday September 7, 2017.

A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events which may result in extreme fire behavior. A Fire Weather Watch is issued when weather conditions could exist in the next 12-72 hours. A Red Flag Warning is the highest alert. During these times extreme caution is urged by all residents.

The National Weather Service Portland Office is forecasting abundant lightning. Thunderstorms will be moving rapidly through the area. These storms will move through fast enough to prevent widespread wetting rains. Fuels remain critically dry. An outdoor burn ban is already in effect in all of Pacific County.

As fire conditions can change frequently, PCEMA will not be posting updated information. Residents are encouraged to check with the Weather Service website for updated information at http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/pqr/.

I had rented a car Monday morning in Portland because I wanted to go with my family to Eagle Crest to go swimming at the waterfalls. The customer service rep told us that there was a fire going on right now. I quickly checked on my phone, and sure enough a fire was starting right there. We had to go up Washington to get in the water.

The next day Portland was coated with ashes. It was bad, but that was the day we checked out of our hotel to go back home.
