MORE than 1200 people attended a presentation held for Wide Bay members of Jehovah's Witness at the Brolga Theatre on Sunday.

The special day of instruction was led by a guest speaker, Bill Sharpe, who had travelled from Sydney.

The theme for the day was taken from the Bible text Matthew chapter 6 verse 10, "let God's will take place".

People travelled from Hervey Bay, Gayndah, Gympie, Mundubbera, Murgon and Tin Can Bay for the event.

Mr Sharpe spoke on two topics on Sunday: "live no longer for the desires of men, but for God's will" and "encourage one another, for this is the will of God".

"The program highlighted just how individuals could work in harmony with what is stated in the Lord's Prayer: 'Let your will take place'," spokesman Philip Clapp said.

"The program discussed how we should reach out to help all types of people and the urgent need for us to build up and encourage others.

"Young ones also were given some practical advice on how they could show that God was important in their lives."

Twelve new members were also baptised into the faith on Sunday afternoon.

The Wide Bay members of Jehovah's Witnesses will meet again at the Brolga Theatre in March for a two-day assembly with the theme: "let God's name be sanctified".

Members of the public are welcome to attend.
