New study shows Earth’s first trees had a more complex structure than trees today

What the study suggests is that the first trees on our planet were far more complicated than we might have assumed. The researchers found that one specimen was found to incorporate hundreds of other tree-looking structures within itself. That makes them considerably different in structure compared with any of the modern-day trees we see around us today.

Someone brought up a point that this again goes against the idea of evolution. Trees were "more complex and developed" back then than they are now.

That's interesting because if you grow a cutting from another tree - that cutting grows in  a completely different more rustic way than a plant you buy in the store - they seem to grow in a 'perfect' predestined way if you like ... but natural trees grow every which way and look very different.
