Jehovah's name and Nez Perce Tribe

Recommended Posts

I been reading a book "A Century OF Dishonor" By Helen Hunt Jackson 1881. The book is about failed treaties of the Indians. On page 106, it mentions about a family from the Nez Perce tribe. "The woman seated herself between her children. The Indian then bowed his head and prayed to God....calling on Jehovah in the name of Jesus Christ!...While eating, the frequent repetition of the words  Jehovah and Jesus Christ,, in the most reverential manner..."

Although the Nez Perce deprived of their teaching, there is a reason why. On pare 124, in the book gives an indication why. This issue was having schools on the Wallowa Reservation and Chief Joseph had a meeting with the commissioners. Here what it says:

Com, "Why do you not want schools?"

Joseph, "They will teach us to have churches?"

Com, "Do you want churches?"

Joseph, "No, we don not want churches."

Com, "Why do you not want churches?"

Joseph, They will teach us to quarrel about God, as the Catholics and Protestants do on the Nez Perce Reservation, and at others places. We do not want to learn that. We may quarrel with men sometimes about things on the earth, but we never quarrel about God. We do not want to learn that."

I once read that .Crazy Horse did not except the doctrine of  Hell Fire. It will be amazing to see those died be resssureted to learn the truth Acts. 24:14
