By wisdom the shrewd man understands the way he is going.—Prov. 14:8.

We all have choices and decisions to make. Not every one of our decisions is a life-and-death matter. However, many of our decisions, the choices we make, can have a profound effect on us. Hence, the ability to make good decisions can help us to live a relatively smooth, peaceful life rather than one that is full of chaos, controversy, and disappointment. What will help us to make wise decisions? We certainly need faith in God, not doubting his willingness and ability to help us to be wise. We also need faith in Jehovah’s Word and in his way of doing things, trusting God’s inspired counsel. (Jas. 1:5-8) As we draw close to him and grow in love for his Word, we come to trust his judgment. Accordingly, we develop the habit of consulting God’s Word before making decisions. w17.03 2:2, 3

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

I like the way we are always encouraged to forge our own relationship with Jehovah, not to be following men.  Ultimately, all our choices are between us and Jehovah.  No human can tell us how to worship Jehovah.  If we follow what the Bible tells us is pleasing to Jehovah, it will be the best way for us.  For this reason, we scrutinize ourselves - our actions, our decisions - against Biblical principles.  Do we find these thoughts always on our own, through our Bible study?  This is where getting the full picture using the publications come in.  Though the FDS are not infallible, they consistently use the scriptures in their reasoning and discussions in print, online and through talks.  "Test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God" 1 John 4:1-3.

This is how we learn the truth about Jehovah.  Checking to see how what is being discussed fits in with the "standard of wholesome words" from the Scriptures (2 Tim 1:13).  And then we know we are learning from a bona fide source.  That is the course of wisdom, as today's scripture points out.  Wisdom of the shrewd, one who takes the time to make sure of what they are learning, understands the way to go in life, be it decision-making, goals and living up to Jehovah's standards.
