Kids only media server suggestions

So I recently switched bedrooms with our four boys (theirs was bigger 😉) and we had a TV mounted to a wall. I have no problem leaving it in there but I obviously won't be keeping Netflix or YouTube apps on it.

 

I had an idea of either a) locking down a Roku or other device to use ONLY JW Broadcasting, b) storing JW Broadcasting content on a media server in the house and stream to the TV via wireless HDMI, or c) jailbreaking my Amazon Fire Stick, installing Kodi, and keeping a micro SD card updated with original songs, animated stuff, and movies that they can watch to their hearts' content. I haven't played around with kodi in ages so I don't know what parental control options there are to prevent installing additional add-ons or apps that would expose the boys to the worst of Satan's world.

 

Has anyone else tackled a project like this before? Any other suggestions?

I would not leave the TV there, anyway, watching a screen before going to sleep isn't very good.
