EPUB3 on a kobo device and other eInk devices

Anyone having a kobo device can share if our publications in ePUB format show the footnotes on a pop-up or not?

Do the pdf's support hypperlinks an notes?

 

I currently have a kindle device (voyager) and none of those things work. Till now I wasn't ablew to convert the bible in a satisfactory way to be used on my device (I can only read from beggining to end withoud any table of contents or links... both converting from epub or pdf). So I'm currently searching for other eINK alterntives

 

I looked into readers that have andoid and it seemed to be the obvious choice but after searching they appear to be extremely slow and lacking a lot of features from a regular android tablet....
