This place is in Binjai. The area/district is called Pelaruga. I used to go to Binjai from Bukit Lawang. I took the angkut (van). Fancy, I didn't know about this place. Apparently, Pelaruga is the gateway to 3 tourist spots namely Abadi Pool, Tongkat and Teroh-Teroh waterfalls. 

It is only 22 km west of Medan but it takes about 3 hours to reach and another 30 minutes of tracking from 1 location to another.

To reach the waterfall, one can follow the river or by canyoning from Abadi Pool to Teroh-Teroh waterfall.

To get to Tongkat Waterfall involved both uphill and downhill. The ground was muddy in some parts so do be very careful. Remember to bring along mosquito repellent to prevent those pesky mossies from biting you. To get to the waterfall, the final challenge was for us to climb down a four-storey high ladder made of bamboo. If you have a fear of heights, do not look down! Once you arrive at the bottom of the ladder, you'll be greeted by the sound of the waterfall, still obscured at this point. But you only need to climb over some rocks (caution: they are slippery) and you'll be treated with a gorgeous view of the waterfall.

 

You and your party must have enjoyed yourselves thoroughly especially during this long festive season.

@M'Awan Yup! We enjoyed it so much, with few bruises and sore body for climbing rocks... We are 15, mostly members from our cong... From abadi pool, we went to teroh teroh waterfall by body rafting or climbing through rocks along the river... We didn't go to Tongkat since it has more difficult terrain... We were happy and satisfied just by reaching teroh teroh...
