ORIGINAL SONGS

Recommended Posts

I write songs and many of them have been recorded and some were released here in my country. Didn't really soar the airwaves that much cause it's not about sex, drugs, or violence, which is what many people like to listen to these days.

Lately, I met a nice brother who is also a sound engineer. I sent him a couple of my songs and he arranged them. I want to share them with you. I hope you like them.

The first one is a song I wrote for my daughter (I'm a single-mom!). The original version is a ballad, but the brother working on the musical arrangement is pioneering this month so he couldn't sit down and arrange it yet. But he gave me a nice gift while I wait for the original one to get finished. He mixed my song with a song by the artist Nelly. I really didn't expect it to sound good at all. But it did.

The song is entitled: YOU ARE, and this is the JUST A DREAM REMIX by Brother Bob (Silverheart):

Here's another original song I wrote specially for a brother and sister who got married last month.

It's so hard working with a brand new song even when you're working on it together, like face to face, it's even more difficult when you're trying to make it work A THOUSAND MILES APART! But Brother Bob, the genius that he is, made it work. The problem with the timing is NOT his fault - BUT MINE! I sang without a metronome! Sorry. But this is a draft, rushed because I couldn't find a software that would work with Vista. This will get better soon ---- I PROMISE!

Here's a feeble attempt at a comedy song I wrote as a dig at folk singers. The subdued lighting and the wooly jumper and beard (?) added to the illusion, but I think it turned out a bit TOO dark. In case you can't make out the words I'll add them here:

Let me sing you song from the olden days

There always seemed to be too many Mays

Don't know why they're so merry anyway

Maybe it's just cos they're easy to say

With that accent we all appear to have

Not sure where it's from but I have to nav-

Igate round a word that is hard to rhyme

I'd think of some more but I don't have the time

Is it Irish or Welsh or Northumberland?

One of these accents we don't understand,

Is it Cornish or Scots or the Isle of Man,

Am I a soldier, a farmer, or a fisherman?

Let me sing you a song 'bout the Jacobites

Don't care who they were but they sure loved a fight,

Against an oppressor, or an evil king

And the best way to remember is to play and sing

With that accent we all appear to have

Not sure where it's from but I have to nav-

Igate round a word that is hard to rhyme

I'd think of some more but I don't have the time

Is it Irish or Welsh or Northumberland?

One of these accents we don't understand,

Is it Cornish or Scots or the Isle of Man,

Am I a soldier, a farmer, or a fisherman?
