Saturday, November 13

Observe, my son, the commandment of your father, and do not forsake the instruction of your mother.—Prov. 6:20.

Jehovah has assigned the mother an honorable role in the family, and he has given her a measure of authority over her children. In fact, a mother’s influence on her children can be profound and lifelong. (Prov. 22:6) Note what mothers can learn from Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary knew the Scriptures very well. She had developed a deep respect for Jehovah and had formed a strong personal friendship with him. She was willing to submit to Jehovah’s direction, even though it involved changing her entire life course. (Luke 1:35-38, 46-55) Mothers, you can imitate Mary in a number of ways. How? First, by maintaining your own friendship with Jehovah through personal Bible study and private prayers. Second, by being willing to make changes in your life to please Jehovah. w19.09 18 ¶17-19

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

I thought that this was a beautiful verse to keep in mind for believing mothers in spiritually divided homes.

Its so difficult for these ones to find the balance of respecting their unbelieving husbands headship and making a stand for their worship.

Its particularly difficult when children are involved but this verse gives clear direction that a mother isn't just an "assistant father" but rather a role given by Jehovah and she can provide things that a father cant always provide.

Its inspiring when we see these faithful sisters doing all they can so keep themselves and their children close to Jehovah, not to mention the effect it can have on their unbelieving mates, as alluded in the scripture for Thursdays text.

Mothers are blessed with authority from Jehovah to provide training to their family. How good that Jehovah honors mothers this way. They have lots of good to contribute and share and need to be heard and listened to.

The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah

In the Christian congregation, exemplary older sisters serve as spiritual mothers to younger, less experienced sisters even in the matters of the heart. They are like a lighthouse serving as beacons in a dark stormy night. Having less surging hormones raging in their bodies, they are more level headed and can dispense healthful advise to guide someone in the ways of life. Therefore it is good to seek out the company of these wise older sisters in navigating through the turbulent seas of Satan's world in order to avoid being spiritually shipwrecked.

Daydream -

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.
