Interview experiences.

Recommended Posts

Have you ever attended a job interview or inviewed someone for a job? what was your experience like and what did you learn that could help others in future job interviews?

I was among fhe panel to inview some applicants yesterday for a job (it turns out to be an all male panel-sounds scary right?)

The case of a young lady was disturbing.even before we were half way into the interview, most members of the panel had finished their rating and started submitting their score sheets.its obvious that she wont get the job,I pitied her.

but i learnt a lesson.

In interview, first impression is very very very important.after the lady  left, most members of the panel were complaining that the young lady was disrespectful and too overconfident.honestly,at first i felt the same way too,but when I got home i began to reason that just one encounter doesn't tell everything about someone, could it be that the lady was only struggling not to be nervous or look nervous? im not sure, but that first impression had a profound effect.

I wonder if her high confidence level would have been considered negative had she been a He.

I've never been one to "sit still, look pretty", and at times I think it has ruffled some feathers.
