QUESTION or HELP

  According to 1 Kings8:62-65, 14 days of sacrifice happened with 142,000 sheep and oxen. Now it is to my understanding that if sacrifices happened during 12 hours of daylight during the 14 days, then:

 

1. There would be around 14 sacrifices per minute

 

2. There would be 840 sacrifices per hour.

 

3. There would be 10,080 per day.

 

But if the sacrifices were 24/7, then the numbers should doubled and it doesn't add up right. What I'm doing wrong here?????

142,000 sheep and oxen

 

14 days (during the 12 hours of daylight)

 

168 hours total

 

10,080 minutes total

 

----

 

10,143 sheep and oxen per day

 

846 sheep and oxen per hour

 

14.1 ≈ 14 sheep and oxen per minute

 

I would say that whether the sacrifices happened during the 12 hours of daylight or 24/7 isn't really important. (But maybe you are seeing something I'm not seeing) As soon as all the 142,000 sacrifices are made it is done.

 

The numbers naturally change if the number of days change.
