Hello, forgive me if this has been brought up before, but I could not find it. Is there any way to print a Public Talk Schedule for the Information Board that starts mid-month? Or whatever the current week is? I can only see how to do it by month. So let's say this week I want to print a new schedule that shows the remaining week to two in this month, then flow right into next month. I can only re-print this entire month (with 2 or 3 weeks in the past) or skip ahead and start with the first week of next month. Hopefully that makes sense. I have tried editing the PDF, converting it to word to edit, nothing works without messing all the formatting up. Has anyone found a workaround or know if there is a setting in the app that will allow this? Or if it has been submitted by anyone else as a feature suggestion? Thanks

Thank you. I did try that, but the formatting gets all wonky when you start deleting things. Hard to get the lines to match up. Maybe if I was better with word, but seems like too much trouble, when it would be nice to choose exact start date of schedule to export directly from the app

Are you saving it directly as a word doc from NWS or converting it to word from pdf, as you mentioned previously? It may make a difference. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Your system may have the file type defaulting/stuck in PDF.  There is an option to switch that to a Word document.

1. Go to the page that says Save, Print & Email Reports.

2. Select what you want.  Probably the Public Talk Schedule and the 3 boxes below.

3. Select the month you want to start and the month you want to end.  Go far enough ahead so you will not need to add additional weeks.  It is easy to delete weeks, but it is a pain to add weeks the way the table is set up.

4. Under the File Type drop down select Document.

5. Now if you click Preview it will show up as a PDF.  If you click Save though, it will download and save as a Word document.

6. The information is in a Table form.  Select the weeks you want to delete.  Go to Table Layout (or something like that if you have a different version of Word).  In the Delete drop down menu click Delete Rows.

7. Save the document again so you don’t lose anything.

That should be all you need to do for an information board document.

If for some reason your system will not download a Word document with these instructions there is a bug or something in the schedule may have been entered incorrectly.  You could try making a small change in the schedule just to refresh things or look for some field that has data incorrectly entered.

You are right about how difficult it is to convert PDF's to Word docs.  Over the years I have tried many different free programs.  The one I have had the most success with is called PDFGear.  You can upload your PDF and click to have it converted to a Word document.  There can still be an error or two that needs to be tweaked but it is usually fairly good.  Tables are a whole other matter though and it is really hit or miss if it works.

Need help with data problem. Our Cong Secretary has been struggling with this for months. Information that is sent from NWS shows up fine on his wife's phone, but not on his (high-end Samsung phone). Examples: territories, public talk assignments, public witnessing reservations. No one else in cong of 120 pubs is experiencing this problem - only him.

 

We have tried it all: re-booting, re-loading, disconnecting and reconnecting. Finally today we tried resetting his Personal PIN. That made it even worse! Here is all he gets now (see pics). Please - Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this??

I know it may seem like a little thing but is he running the latest version of the app? A few months ago after a major update we had 10 or so pubishers having a similar issue. I had them delete the app and make sure to download the latest version and it resolved the issues.

Side point: I and several other elders run the app on several devices with no struggles although that may still be the problem.

We have had a few publishers that had no issues using 2 devices but in most cases it has caused issues just like you are describing.  We now encourage publishers to just use one device.

We have had a number of times when a publisher is having issues like you are describing and there is no Apple or Google Play Store button showing to update.  We have them uninstall and reinstall the app and then things work perfectly again.  The update system is a little glitchy for this app sometimes.

In summary:  I agree with what both drd217 and Sooner Guy 89 have suggested.

P.S.  I forgot to commend you for what you and your secretary have tried already.  Those were some smart troubleshooting attempts that had a chance of working.

I don't know much about the program but isn't there a Remove or Block option in NWS? Is it possible that someone accidentally blocked him?

That is good thinking outside the box but his account isn't disabled.  The screenshot shows the app will still open for him - it is just showing the incorrect information.

UPDATE. Thanks for excellent feedback so far - some good points. So now we have disconnected the tablet from the app and powered it down. He disconnected the phone ->I removed both his devices in Devices list -> he re-connected the phone -> no improvement. I checked the Device list and found his devices missing. So I hit Devices Refresh button - both his devices came into the list with his OLD Personal ID!!  So I am fresh out of ideas what to try next.

Some other possibilities…  I am probably over explaining some of this because you probably know all of this but just in case…

1. If you tried it right after you made those adjustments the system may not have had time to populate the new data.  NWS, like a lot of programs, can sometimes take 2-3 hours to populate correctly into the system.  You might try logging out, waiting a couple of hours, then checking it again.

2. You mention he “disconnected the phone.”  Do you mean he disconnected it from NWS or that he uninstalled the app and reinstalled it?  If he didn’t uninstall the app and reinstall it, I would suggest you do that.  Then his NWP version should show 3.7.18.  If it shows that on the App Persons page it may be incorrect.  I have seen that happen.  He should check on his actual phone.

He can check his phone app version by clicking the settings gear icon > About > on the upper left side he should see 3.7.18 (or newer).

3. Have you made sure that his NWS version is up to date?  It may not seem related, but I have seen it happen more than once, that when a brother did not have his NWS up to date that it would show crazy data in his NWP.

You can check his NWS version by going to Congregation > Congregation Sharing > Shared Persons.  His version should show 7.8 #1411.
