Is anyone else having issues with submitting their time for the month of April? Some publishers reported this, and I tried it myself and it is not longer working.  Anyone else?

Were they still using the old region servers? There is a reminder in NWS that everyone needs to convert to the new server by May 1st..

NWS will flag it. When you open that specific entry, or try to choose one be given after that specific date.

I am thinking that all those newly discontinued outlines will be removed on the next update. There is a way posted on NW help page to edit the program files. I tried it and but it removed all the talk titles. So, it may be better to wait for the fix. At least for me.😁

Talk Coordinators, what do you do when it is announced that an outline is discontinued and shouldn't be given after a certain date? Is there a way to flag it in NWS so it isn't scheduled after a certain date?

From the past when you try to schedule it the software at that time flags it. I keep a separate list of our speakers going out with their talks and the associated revision date and will notify them when they need to address any discrepancies.

NWS does already flag the suspended outlines with notes, but they are missing one.  They do not have #112 flagged and it is suspended.  It helps that you can no longer view or download suspended outlines on jw.org.  A brother could still forget though or miss a notice so a while back I sent a list to our coordinator and the PT coordinator to be alert.

One other note, if you have #103 listed as suspended.  Yes #103 was suspended but they never sent a reinstatement  because they published a brand-new outline.  It previously was  “You Can Find Joy in Serving God” and now it is "How Can You Find Real Joy?"  So, although it is likely a very similar outline, they consider it a new talk. That must be why they did not see a need to send a reinstatement notice.

I went back to older notices and on average they allow the outlines back in rotation about 2 years after the C.O.'s have given the talk.

Current Public Talk outlines that are temporarily suspended

No. 59 “You Will Reap What You Sow”

No. 112 “How to Express Love in a Lawless World”

No. 122 “Global Peace—From What Source?”

No. 123 “Why Christians Must Be Different”

I open to suggestions for Public Witnessing Schedules. Preferably I like to implement the SMPW way of scheduling. They open the reservation for a month by the 15th of previous month. some take advantage of not having this restriction in place and the earliest one can reserve a slot is July 5th.

To sum it up, how do I reserve a key man slot that only key men can reserve and how do I enable the reservations on the 15th of any given month.

Ours does it on the previous first Sunday of the month. Sorry I don't know how to answer your question.

The way our congregation does it is, for our Sunday public witnessing, the key man is assigned and rotates through the elders and some MSs. e.g. each elder will be assigned as key man once every 8 weeks. We have 3 other slots per shift that are available for publishers to assign themselves. This ensures there is always a key man responsible for bringing the carts and taking care of the publishers safety wise.

However, it is also possible to do what you are asking and set 1 or more key men slots that can only be reserved by those who are marked as key men. It's explained on this page https://nwscheduler.com/how-to/schedule/public-witnessing/ under the heading Public Witnessing Shifts and the subheading Key Persons. However, that doesn't guarantee that a key man will reserve the slot. It's possible the publishers will reserve their slots and the key man slot could left empty.

At the moment, it is not possible for us to make reservations for public witnessing in the Publisher app. This affects NWS Desktop (8.1 #1451) with Publisher app 4.0.6 on Android and iOS.

Is this issue known, and is there a workaround? Reservations are still displayed when I enter them via the Scheduler, but publishers can no longer make reservations in the app themselves or delete their own reservations.

We're seeing this, same combo of NWP Desktop and mobile 4.0.6. I managed to get an apk file of 4.0.5 and after removing 4.0.6 installed 4.0.5 and was able to make reservations again. it's not viable to ask the publishers to do this, so I'm just hoping the devs are aware. I'll probably raise a ticket if there's no update in the next 24 hrs to fix this.

This is solved in app version 4.0.7

Confirmed, the issue is fixed. The only remaining problem for our congregation is the 'Unknown' person display issue in the publisher app.

We have a weekly cleaning schedule. In the app It shows which group cleans during the midweek meeting but it shows none for the weekend meeting, which should be the same group that cleans midweek.

This error occurs when I try to enter time for a publisher in my group. Happens whether the publisher is connected or not. I am not the GO but and the Sec. Set to all elders can enter time for group members. NWP app version is 4.0.7

Any ideas? Or am I waiting on a fix?

Not available in the Apple store I'm hearing from our publishers. I have an android device, so I'm not able to confirm.

We switched to the New Servers as soon as the were available, but Time reports are not showing up for our congregation either.

I will try to restore the missing service reports from a backup prior to the 8.1 update...

And what would be the suggested course to get the attendance boxes back in NWP?

Restoring the reports from backup worked. 👍🏻

Today's NWP update restored the attendance boxes. 👍🏻

These updates have been

FAST & FURIOUS

Can we appeal to the QC / QA department to please do a better job of testing as errors are occurring and erroneous messages keep popping up that we have never experienced before.

We lost the statuses of territories worked a few weeks before April 25th and today had several times the experience by different publishers, where the householder replied someone was here weeks ago.

NOT Very Good Optics!

This sounds much more like a bug in NWP than an incorrectly configured setting,  especially because:

  • it happens with all publishers

  • both connected and non-connected publishers show the same behavior

  • your permissions appear to be correct (“all elders can enter time”)

  • the error message is a pure Firestore/database error (“No document to update”)

  • you are using version 4.0.7

That message basically means the app is trying to update an existing record that internally does not exist yet. Normally, this should be handled automatically.

My suspicion is:

  • either there is a bug in version 4.0.7 related to time entry by secretaries/non-group overseers

  • or an internal document is missing for your group/congregation after a migration or update

Things you can still try before waiting for a fix:

  • Ask the Group Overseer to test it
Can the Group Overseer enter time for the same publisher?

  • Sign out and sign back in
Sometimes a permissions document is cached locally.

  • Clear cache/app data
    Especially on Android:

    • force stop the app

    • clear cache

    • sign in again

But honestly, because the error is so technical and consistent, I do not expect you will be able to solve this locally yourself.

I would recommend reporting this to NWP support.
