Hey everyone!

My wife and I are getting excited for our Europe trip- first for both.

We have flights, accommodation & meetings all locked in. But just wondering if any of you are around these areas and may have some great local knowledge that’ll assist us 😁

March to April 2024

Paris. Zurich. Venice. Rome. Athens (Memorial). Barcelona. Edinburgh. Manchester. Bristol. London.

Sights to see, places to visit? We’re hoping to catch some ministry time as well.

Manchester

Absolutely make sure you visit the John Rylands University Library which is in Deansgate, right in the centre of Manchester.

Being literally in the centre of Manchester - within walking distance of everything in the city centre - there really is no excuse for not visiting it.... and yet I am amazed at how many brothers and sisters I know who have been to, or visited, Manchester, and have not been 😕

They have one Bible manuscript fragment  - the St John - which you absolutely must see, and at least another couple which are very good to see.

Papyrus Rylands 457 (P52)

Absolutely must see - this is the oldest known fragment of the Christian Greek Scriptures, colloquially known as the St John Fragment.

Rylands Papyrus iii. 458 (Septuagint Papyrus 957)

One of the oldest existing manuscripts of the Greek Septuagint, from the second century B.C.E. consisting of fragments of Deuteronomy.

Rylands Papyrus P32

Papyrus fragment containing parts of Paul’s letter to Titus, dated around 200 C.E., and therefore predates the Codex Sinaiticus (in London's British Library) by 150 years.

A blockbuster exhibition taking you into the lives of Roman soldiers across the globe

A visitor passes through a large entranceway warm oak doors are pinned back to the frame and the space opens up to reveal a rectangular gallery. Glass cabinets fill the space and people mill around them examining their contents. A view of the great Court at its top, an  extraordinary glass ceiling curves up and around the space its vast surface is a latticework of triangles.

At the centre of the British Museum sits the largest covered public square in Europe, the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court.

Designed by Foster and Partners, the Great Court is a two-acre space enclosed by a spectacular glass roof with the world-famous Reading Room in the middle.

The roof is made up of 3,312 individual panels of glass, and no two panels are the same shape.

The roof stands 26.3 metres (85 ft) above the floor at its highest point – nearly as tall as six of London's double-decker buses.
