Maryland elementary school faces backlash over Pledge

Maryland elementary school faces backlash over Pledge of Allegiance, 'mandatory patriotism' | Fox News

Quote

One Maryland public school was coerced into no longer requiring students and staff to recite the Pledge of Allegiance after a free speech group pushed back against what it called "mandatory patriotism."

Twin Ridge Elementary School officials in Mount Airy reversed course on mandating the pledge after clarification was needed on the school's policy for the salute. Back in April, the school emailed all staff clarifying that the Pledge of Allegiance was mandatory.

I found the comments section very interesting!

Some remember JW classmates that didn't say the pledge and some demand that everyone be required to say it or get kicked out of the country. And then there is the 77 year old vet that states - he always stands for the pledge and anthem, but the moment that is mandated is the last day that he does.

It is still a lightning rod for some.

I remember all through school standing, but not putting my hand on my heart and not reciting the pledge. Most of the time this was not an issue, but every now and again .... We always have to stand for what we know is right. And doing it when we are young helps us to be steadfast as we grow older! (Luke 16:10)

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Soon .....
