What Is This? (Picture Attached)

I have this strange, shiny, hard black dot on my back that's been there for quite a while and I never knew until just last month. 

I do have a doctors appointment next week, but I was curious if anyone else has ever had anything like this.

Get your doctor to check it's not a melanoma Lori.

Yes, good advice. It looks like a Seborrheic keratosis, but always best to get it checked out. They look as if something dripped onto you in terms of their appearance.

It looks like an open comedone to me. 

"Giant comedones are blackheads that range in size from several millimeters to two centimeters (0.78 inches) in diameter.7 They are usually just single blackheads and mainly affect older adults."

Or a Dilated Pore of Winer.

 

I hope you get some peace of mind and get all fixed up at your doctors appointment.

I could have said from the movies "Alien" which is where it was from originally, but was a tad too gory for some to see. The same actor (John Hurt) did the scene for both movies.
