Thinking Deeply - Modern Day Nimrod's in Opposition to Jehovah's Purpose

Recommended Posts

Nimrod was known as a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah. He was a ruler over a group of people who decided they did not want to fill the earth. They wanted to build a tower into heaven, and stay in one place. Jehovah looked down and saw this blatant disrespect of his purpose, and decided to confuse the people by making them speak different languages, and they ended up discontinuing their work on the tower. As I read more into this bible account, I cannot help but look at several individuals in our time who remind me of Nimrod.

These individuals have grandiose plans that go against Jehovah's purpose. One such person envisions a future living in space on a planet that is void of life, Mars. While we as Jehovah's people are well aware that the earth is made for man. Jehovah formed this beautiful earth to be inhabited, those without this knowledge may see these people's plans as potentially successful. How must Jehovah feel to see this man who has built himself up as an innovator go against his purpose for humans to inhabit the earth? In their efforts to look elsewhere in space, for the ability to survive, they leave behind trails of pollution and ruination in the form of ruined health of the people who live near their facilities. Pollution of our precious water, and more. Revelation 11:18 says Jehovah will bring to ruin those ruining the earth.

There is even a space station in Texas where visitors can walk in an see simulations of life on Mars - quite depressing to say the least. Red dirt, no growth of any kind in site, and a bubble in the far distance is what these people envision as a future for select ones. Most likely we all can agree, this is akin to Nimrod.

Thinking Deeper

I have thought more in depth to those who claim the earth is overpopulated. Thus, they have sought ways to decrease the population. Oftentimes, these measures are very sinister. Some of these people are from families that favor eugenics. While their efforts may seem innocent on the surface, a deeper look reveals that these people are against Jehovah's purpose. Jehovah's purpose was and still is to fill the earth. He gave the command to Adam and Eve and again to Noah and his family. Abortions are advocated by these people. Planned Parenthood clinics are put into areas of minorities' low income communities, while well off neighborhoods are void of such places.

These people, instead of fulfilling the command to assist the poor, are meddling in their affairs and controlling how they use their reproductive organs, in essence playing some sort of god over people's bodies and family outcomes.

History Repeats Itself

Most likely when you read this, you know the two individuals I hint at. There have been many throughout history; and, Jehovah directly or indirectly dealt with them. From bible times, you had the Pharaoh who wanted the baby boys dead during the time Moses was born. We read about the wicked Haman who wanted to kill all the Jews out of spight, and who can forget when Herod had all the baby boys two and under brutally snatched from their homes and killed?

Nothing has changed. It does us well to pay attention to recognize such modern day Nimrod's, Pharoah's, or Herod's. The bible says the wise one see the danger and conceals himself. Jehovah also gives us the power of discernment to distinguish right from wrong. I personally try to stay clear from anything these men put their hands on and push on the population. What are your thoughts on the subject?

There’s something that’s been sitting with me — not just the obvious parallels between Nimrod and a few modern names we could all rattle off, but the pattern behind it all. Nimrod didn’t just build a tower. He built a story. A new version of events where Jehovah’s purpose was the problem, and man’s ambition was the solution.

Sound familiar?

That same spirit is alive and well. Today it wears a different suit — sleek, high-tech, and dripping with promises. “Let’s leave this broken world behind and build a better one… on Mars.” Right. Let’s ignore the lush forests, the oceans teeming with life, the perfectly balanced systems we didn’t design and can’t replicate — and head for a dry rock where nothing grows. Progress, they call it.

It’s not progress. It’s pride dressed up in lab goggles.

But there’s more to it. Some of these folks aren’t just chasing the stars — they’re rewriting the rules. Jehovah said “fill the earth,” and they say, “It’s too full.” He says life is sacred, and they say, “Only some lives.” The command was stewardship. The response? Control. That’s the real heart of it — not preservation, not protection. Just control. But packaged real pretty, with terms like “sustainability” and “efficiency” and “equity.”

They don’t build altars anymore — they build narratives. But it’s the same script.

And here’s the irony. They call themselves visionaries — builders of a new tomorrow. But all they’re doing is digging in the same dirt Nimrod stood on. New tools, same rebellion. Same tower, just with solar panels.

That got me thinking: maybe the real question isn’t just “who are the Nimrods of today?” Maybe it’s, “where am I tempted to build a tower — even a little one — instead of trusting the ground Jehovah already gave me to stand on?”

Because the test isn’t just out there. It’s in here too.

So… where do we plant our feet?

I think your comment is too US-centric, Felicia. But blow it out to the bigger picture, and you see the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. We see the “unclean inspired expressions that looked like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the wild beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet“ (Rev 16:13). Yes, of course the US/UK dominate the propaganda in our western world. But, those individuals that you don’t name, sometimes we of non-US origin don’t even know who they are.

But we see versions of those type of people in our own countries dominate and influencing our governments. I just switch off when it comes to individuals and how they are acting Nimrod-like. I only need to know that this world is passing away, and soon it will all be over. Let’s go with what Jehovah wants us to concentrate on - good and upbuilding things, and sharing the hope with others. Going down rabbit holes of the lives of these negative people is sort of distracting. We know they are going against Jehovah’s will. And that's their choice.
