"That's a good question" seems overdone, now. Sorry to over-analyze.

As quoted on tv court shows, the arbitrator says, "Of course, all my questions are good."

During the service meeting, I seem to hear the assigned person respond, that's a good question. It seems overworked  to me b/c it not only sounds over done in the presentation, I seldom hear someone at the door ask such questions.

I think I understand what you mean about saying “that’s a good question” people might find it patronising. 

 

Someone said to me today that he can’t believe in a God because of all the terrible things around the world, he asked “if God is real why’s he not stopping it?” I paused and said did you know the Bible answers that question, I can show you right here on my phone. 
 

On this occasion he wasn’t willing to listen however hopefully next time he will. 

 

Sometimes being aware of the words we use can make a difference, but the phrase “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” also comes to mind. If we find those words work well then carry on 😅
