NASA Releases Thousands of Lunar Images From Artemis II

Recommended Posts

NASA released more than 11,000 full-resolution images and videos of the moon on October 7, 2026, opening the Artemis II mission’s lunar science archive to researchers and the public. The photographs offer remarkable views of Jehovah’s creation and bring fresh meaning to a familiar scriptural thought.

“The heavens are declaring the glory of God; The skies above proclaim the work of his hands.” — Psalm 19:1.

The release contains more than 800 gigabytes of material, including photographs from handheld cameras and cameras aboard the Orion spacecraft. It also includes 8.5 hours of recorded scientific observations and images annotated by the astronauts. Some of the material had not previously been released.

During the April 6 lunar flyby, crew members shared responsibilities for photographing the moon, recording observations, and making notes. NASA says the collection is the first planetary science dataset captured primarily by humans in more than half a century.

For readers who appreciate both photography and the natural world, the archive provides an opportunity to examine our nearest celestial neighbor from an extraordinary vantage point. The images reflect considerable human skill in capturing and transmitting those views. For those who recognize Jehovah as the Creator, they also invite appreciation for the handiwork being photographed.

The images, recordings, and accompanying reports are available through NASA’s public Planetary Data System. Links to the collection appear in NASA’s announcement.
