Snack After Family Study

Recommended Posts

Barbara, I had a counselor once tell me that when my husband came home from owrk to have a "happy hour"...no alcohol but have his diet coke in a nice crystal glass (not plastic) and have some light hor dovrs fixed--we were not allowed to talk about work (since he was a contractor and I was his secretary) at first their was no conversation because we could not thing of anything to say that did not involve work. We were given topic cards to stimulate conversation (current events or news) then we had to make small talk. So diffucult at that point in our marriage. Then we had to find a tv show we both agreeed on and set holding hands watching this show. Then we were given a command to kiss for 10 seconds--goodmornong and greet him at the door with a 10 second kiss. That sounded so studpid but you would not believe how long 10 seconds is when things have gone down hill in a marriage. Things really began to pick up with these suggestions. We began to remember a time when 10 hours was not enough time for affection. It showed me how the doll drum of every day life can rob the job from your marrriage and you really need to pay constant attention. Even if it is just yourself fix that snack and really enjoy your personal/family study! I now pour a glass of wine and put on music to fix dinner even if it is just for me or me and my sister and Rick is at work. Just setting the atosphere does wonders to lift the spirit! Wish you were closer and you could join and my sister and me for our family worship.
