Giant Starfish

When I did Geography at school we were taught how much the Giant Starfish invaded the Great Barrier Reef. Now maybe 20yrs down the track they may have a solution. But my Question is how can they solve this issue & not upset the rest of the ecology of the marine system.

Is it like trying to keep the rabbits in check. They inject to the rabbits a poison where the rabbits habitat is. They end up with Mixammatosis. Forgive my spelling. But its a disease that they then get. Then you have to be careful where you go..
