Puppies...their just like children aren't they?

Recommended Posts

My little Boston Terrier, Teeny is in a phase where she chews on everything. I have to make sure all my closet doors are tightly closed or she pulls out my heels and chews off the decorations on them (buttons, bows, splits the leather on the heels). She even picks up dust bunnies she sees under furniture and eats them which triggers a coughing spell. Last night was the last straw. I saw something red hanging down from her little cork screw tail and decided I would take a kleenex and pull it off. After making several attempts to remove it without success I decided to turn on the over head light instead of using the light from the TV. I then gave it a good yank, the red thing I thought was a thread, and it popped her back as she yelped loudly. She jumped from my arms and the chase was on. After my sister cut her off at the pass and held her tightly with her rear end up in the air, my dogs not my sisters, we discovered it was a rubber band that was hanging out. Oh my. I was not expecting it to still be attached. After removing it Teeny would not come near me the rest of the night. Every time I looked at her she would give me the evil eye. I heop she will learn not to swallow a rubber band again.

Leslie you have the BEST stories.

I can't say definitely that puppies are like kids - not having kids but - I think they are. actually better than kids. Luke - It is ok to leave them with someone for a week when you go on vacation.

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

I have had both and I don't mean to sound weird or that I do not love my children because I do. But at this time in my life I definetly think the animals fill almost every desire that kids do. I think it is a nuturing nature you want to fill. I think people who can't understand that have never had animals or children of their own. There were times when I thought I would die if I did not have a child and it was a challenge raising them and I am not sorry I ever had them. But experiences can hurt and when they are not in the truth and express no desire to learn it is crushing. I talk to my dogs about what they will be able to do in paradise. Silly I know.
