Decorating With Brown Paper Bags

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried this method of decorating?  If you did how did you like it?  Did you do it yourself?  How long has it lasted?

A sister in our ASL congregation siad her fleshly sister is an interior decorator and she uses this method in alot of her homes.  It is chic in appearance (looks like leather) and yet very affordable.  I like the sound of it already.

The sister that told me (Tammy) and I are going to start this in the bathrooms at the bar tomorrow.  I will try and take before, during and after photos to post.  I do not have alot of money to invest in redecorating and sprucing the place up so I am hoping this will do the trick.  Tammy said she use the plastic bags from the stores instead and then painted over hers.  Her bathroom is beautiful!  She used gold, burgundy and green and it is shimmering and textured.. It looks very elegant/regal and like it is in a very expensive palace.  She has some marble type statues and gold rope to draw bag her shower curtians.  Unbelievable.

I am hoping it just does not look like I glued a bunch of grocery sacks on the walls!  I will try and post before, during and after photos of the project.

We have two mens and two womens bathrooms to do.  We will start in the mens and hopefully master the technique by the time we get to the ladies!

It was great,I got the paint and glaze at Sherwin Williams. Here's a pic, I just painted over it with gray and put wolf boarder on for my son. He's entering high school and wanted something more mature looking,he had Africa safari before.

I think the Kingdom Hall I went to in Alabama had a textured effect, probably done with paper or brown bags. It was really nice! I live in Mexico and some of the paint I buy is so thin it looks like I ragged it on. I painted the walls with a brush and you can see all the crazy brush strokes! Bright green over a dull yellow, I think it's time for a change...
