Transgender Cartoon Hero?

Recommended Posts

This month, the channel called The Hub is set to start showing a children's cartoon called 'Shezow.'  It's about a little boy who puts on a ring meant to be worn by a woman only, and turns into a female caped-crusader (or something like that).  At first, you might laugh, thinking, 'Yeah, wouldn't it be good to know what it's like to be on the other side?' but then I can't help but feel that this is  just an extremely subtle way of getting into children's heads so that when they become older, they will think the idea of being transgendered is normal.

Am I making much ado about nothing?

Live long and prosper. 🖖🏻

I moved this over to Entertainment, since it is a discussion about an upcoming TV show.

Personally, I would have to see the show before making any kind of judgment call on it, but based on your description alone it sounds pretty stupid, whether or not it is transgender propaganda masquerading as a kid's show.

My conscience is very rigid when it comes to children's entertainment. When my kids were little I didn't want them watching Scooby Do because the premise was a ghoul, monster or ghost was behind all the bad stuff. It always turned out to be a bad human but I came from a ghosty family that scared me often as a child growing up. I did not want to subject my kids to things that had hurt me. They watched it in their bedrooms with the volume on very low, hiding it from me. Whatever.

Subtle things are always being woven into the fabric of our society and eventually changes perceptions.

Makes me think of something very petty. Remember the commercial that had the child say to the parent, (while wrestling over a toaster waffle) "Leggo of my Eggo?" What message did that send to kids? That they are entitled and are allowed to be obnoxious brats to their parents. Not in my house! All designed to fulfill the scripture saying children would be disobedient to their parents.

Things that erode morals are always wrong. Yes, we can view some things as just plain stupid or silly. But is there a message? Sure there is. Here's the message: I am Satan, worship me. You can do anything you like and I am OK with your decision. All things are permitted. No holds barred! Welcome!

It's called "Conditioning". If it is put out there as just innocent entertainment then we will accept it. I remember when you would never see a couple in the same bed on TV, now they leave nothing to our imagination.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.
