Once upon a time in the Caribbean and other vacation experiences...

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to share a couple of experiences while on our 25Th wedding anniversary last week in the Caribbean.

After the 4Th day on a Celebrity cruise and in St. John Antigua with wordily people we where hoping to find a Kingdom Hall and meet some brothers out in field service. However it had rained all morning, and all of the shore excursions where cancelled. So we ventured out on our own in the rain hoping to find our brothers. We shared a van with 2 nice Chinese couples and drove around the Island, and our driver turned out to be a pentecostal preacher, however he received an ear full.

At the end of the day after writing and sending postcards to friends and unable to find our dear brothers in the rain, we went up and sat in the lounge on the stern watching the cruise ship pull out of port. There where 3 couples in the lounge and a piano player on the Steinway. As we where reflecting on the day we turned around just as the piano player started to play Life Without End - At Last! (John 3:16) One of our favorites from the old song book.

Turns out our young brother from LA was on the same cruise with a group of 11 other brothers, we met up later in the front of the dining room, they invited

us to play cards later on.

The following day while on an excursion in St. Lucia to the botanical gardens and Grand Pitons, the guide mentioned that there where quite a few

Jehovah's Witnesses on the Island along with other religious groups. We then stopped and just as we where snapping pictures we had the opportunity to witness to a young man with a large tattoo that said "Jehovah is King"on his arm. Our brothers are very active in the Islands. Also seems the Rastas are active too, Signs that read "Jah with the Marijuana leaf emblem

Then in Barbados while swimming to shore we overheard a brother from Georgia and another cruise ship mention that he was going to miss the ministry

school that evening and " if the brothers could only see him now".

We returned home back to Phoenix refreshed and knowing that Jehovah's people are everywhere, active and fully accomplishing his will.

Have you ever had similar experiences?

Michael and Sara
