Hello Chuck,

No, I don't work for Apple although I might have sounded like I did. Ha! Ha! Maybe I should ask for a commission! No, but seriously, the new iPad works well for pdf files. However, in our last service meeting it was announced that the literature is also now available as ePup files, or will soon be available. I just tried with the computer and then the iPad but I could not find these sort of files. So I presume they will soon be available or else I'm doing something wrong. I'm not sure.

Anyway, take care and warmest Christian love,

Dan

No, you aren't doing anything wrong (well as far as the epub files go anyway) :) The files won't be on jw.org until after the 16th of this month. You iPad will display them very nicely!

Enjoy!

boy that's my story 1963 and 1973, although my mother is still pioneering at 71 my father left the truth(part of the 1975 crowd) and died not long after, when he left her he said "lets see your god take care of you now", and boy Jehovah has been good to us, I wish he could see how Jehovah has not only provided but the blessings are wonderful

I have an eReader, but I go back even before the "Daily" and "Pocket" editions of the Sony. I have a PRS-505 that I've had almost two years and I love it. About 143 books on it currently and I'm so excited to have some of our publications available now. I've downloaded everything from jw.org that's available, and it all works beautifully on it except for the NWT. It shows that it has downloaded, but when I pull it up on the reader, I get a :exclamation: Page Error. Not sure if its a storage issue or what--I have tons of space on the SD card left, so not sure:unsure:. Anyone else had this problem, or is it Sony's way of telling me I need to upgrade!? Anyway, its not a super huge issue as everything else works fine and I always have my Bible nearby anyway.

I have a Kindle 3. I had to take the NWT and translate it into MOBI which is the language of Kindle. You can do yours to what ever format works best for you at: http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-pdf Try it, it might work for you. Sometimes it depends how you download it.I use Google Chrome. I can't use my regular down loader. I have to right click on the file and then save as to get it to download correctly. Hope this helps.

I just re-read this entire thread and I am still confused as to which reader to buy if I were to do so.

I would want the Reference Bible, latest magazines and selected books to be available on it (or to be possible on it) and large print.

Is there anything which ticks all the boxes at a reasonable cost?

EDIT: also the ability to annotate and highlight - I forgot that bit, sorry. :uhhuh:

If I had it to do over I would get the Nook color because the WT and Bible both read well with no changing the format.

Hope this helped.

I think I will end up going for the Kindle wifi, easily available here in UK.

I really like my Kindle. I didn't get the one with 3G but I got the wifi. There is only one drawback with the kindle in that you have to buy books from Amazon and if you download our WT and A they are hard to read unless you change the format to Mobe. That's not too hard if you go to:

http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-pdf

Then you can change it by following the directions. duh.....Sometimes I think I'm talking to one of my clients.

Enjoy...I use mine every day. I have the Daily Text on it and the WT & A and the NWT as well as about 1000 books. If you need any help just PM me.:flowers:

You can also let the Kindle read to you and you can put music on it, I haven't tried that yet. If you do let me know how it works.

With the nook you can d/l epub NWT and epub mags. In that format you tap scripture in magazine and it looks it up for you just like computer. So cool

I wish I had gotten a nook. I tried to examine them all before I spent the money but was mislead by what Kindle said it could do. When I can, I'm going to get a nook.

Well, I got a Kindle for me and my wife (one each - our Convention present to each other!)

Very pleased with it. I used "Calibre" programme to convert the epub downloads of the NWT and mags to Mobi format and they work brilliantly. Yes, just tap the scrip in the mag and the text comes up.

Day's text in pdf displays perfectly, too.

We are going on holiday on Sunday, so they arrived just in time! I also downloaded some novels from http://www.gutenberg.org (some Dickens and Defoe) and bought Stephen C Meyer's book "Signature In The Cell" from Amazon.

It will also play audio books (Audible.com) or better still, free ones from www.librivox.org

Thanks everyone for the help and advice and your experiences.

EDIT: Text to speech is not very good, but I don't need that anyway.

Bob,

I am planning to save up to buy an E-reader. Which one would you recommend? (I'm planning to get it to have all the Watchtower downloads available on a tablet for easy access.) They are on my lap top right now. Thanks.:sunshine:
