Does anyone actually eat this?

I like chorizo in a nice paella, and I quite like small amounts of pepperoni on a piece of pizza (very rare),  :)   but do people actually eat these as a snack?

Or what about kabanosy?

Are they actively bad for you, or just not too good?

I hate pepperoni! I find those little orange, greasy discs quite vile. BUT if you take the pepperoni and single layer them on paper towels then microwave them the grease seeps into the paper towels and they turn crisp like potato chips (try about 60 secs and check them-then a few seconds longer if needed to get them dry and crisp, we do this at the bar and then I take a bottle marinara sauce (Ragu or such) and use it as a dipping sauce. These are wonderful for protein diets and low carbs and you won't believe how much better it tastes!

what is 'kabanosy'?  :S   never heard of it

Kabanosy is a German style sausage. Or some say Frankfurt.

I think they are uses on hotdogs.

Pepperoni is awesome on pizza.

And goes well with apricot or a fruit mixed soft cheese & Vino.

I'm thinking Kielbasa --which is a smoked sausage. Used a lot with crackers and cheese trays or in soups and gumbo's

We always have sauerkraut with our Kielbasa. Homemade, by Grumpy.

A kabanos is a polish sausage (plural kabanosy), not spicy, but a bit peppery.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabanos

They are sold in Polish shops (along with a plethora of other types of sausage).

It would appear that Kielbasa is an American generic term which includes kabanosy:

Wikipedia says:

Originally made at home in rural areas,[6] there are a wide variety of recipes for kielbasa preparation at home and for holidays.[7] Kielbasa is also one of the most traditional foods served at Polish weddings.[8] Popular varieties include:

  • kabanosy, a thin, air-dried sausage flavoured with caraway seed, originally made of pork

  • kiełbasa wędzona, polish smoked sausage, used often in soups.

  • krakowska, a thick, straight sausage hot-smoked with pepper and garlic; its name comes from Kraków

  • wiejska ([ˈvʲejska]), a large U-shaped pork and veal sausage with marjoram and garlic; its name means "rural" or (an adjectival use of) "country", or (adjectival use of) "village".

  • weselna, "wedding" sausage, medium thick, u-shaped smoked sausage; often eaten during parties, but not exclusively

  • kaszanka or kiszka is a traditional blood sausage.

  • myśliwska is a smoked, dried pork sausage.

I quite like the sound of pepperoni crisps and a dip.  Must try that..
