Fairfax photographer Wesley Lonergan snapped these friendly whales as they played in the ocean near Woonona on Friday afternoon.

The mother and calf were spotted just before 6pm, frolicking in the sea as they made their trip south.

 

Whales had also been spotted earlier in the day playing off Bellambi Beach.

These guys were just down the rd. my kids actually got to see them in action.
