To the eldest he gave 50 apples, to the next he gave 30 apples and to the youngest he gave 10 apples.

They were instructed to sell their apples at the same price as the eldest one, but they must all make the same profit.

How did the girls manage it?

This could have two solutions: Either they all give their apples away and each make zero profit OR they set the price of 7 apples for $1. The eldest sister sells 49 apples and makes $7.00, the middle sister sells 28 apples and makes $4.00 and the youngest sells 7 apples and makes $1.00. Then the oldest sister resets the price at $3.00 per apple and they all sell off the apples they have left and each make $10.00.
