Bibi Rahmanova was unexpectedly freed from prison on September 2, 2014. Despite international outcry over the case, judges did not clear her of false charges.

The authorities want to save face. They would rather say they are applying mercy in here case due to her being a mother and not having a previous conviction, than have the justice system brought into question by admiting they got it wrong.
