Seveal daytime home invasions (while home owners are there) have occurred. The criminals duct tape all occupants and then ateal valuables.

In todays news, the police cautioned viewers ....if someone knocks on your door but you're not expecting visitors, and don't know them, don't answer the door - call the police.

If this were happening in your territory, how would you handle your door to door ministry?

Hi Sister Lisa,

Here are a couple of suggestions that might be helpful.

1}

Mention the news report to your Service Overseer.

If he is aware of it, then he might share with you what has been decided

or how the body of elders is looking into the matter.

If he is not aware of it, he will be thankful and he can then

talk with the body of elders and they can determine how to proceed.

2}

In some cases, the Branch has asked the elders to make arrangements with the local police.

An example of this is where in the mornings and/or afternoons "before" heading out into the ministry,

a brother will contact the police informing them of what specific areas/communities that

Jehovah's Witnesses would be visiting that morning/afternoon.

This cooperation has been helpful to the police and has helped to establish a good

relationship with them. Also when neighbors call the police due to seeing strange cars

and/or strangers, the police are able to reassure them immediately.

Of course this arrangement has to be done by the body of elders and by direction of the Branch.

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, And put within me a new spirit, a steadfast one" (PS 51:10)
