is anyone familiar with the epic book by Tolstoy?

It is an amazing love story set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars. I read it aloud to my wife some years ago, and then we bought the fabulous Oscar-winning Russian version of the movie on dvd.

On 1st January, the BBC Radio 4 will broadcast a radio dramatisation starring John Hurt, starting at 9am until 9:30pm with breaks for news etc. I shall try to record it to listen in manageable pieces.

The BBC are also going to broadcast a new tv adaptation in the near future. They do these period pieces so well, I am sure it will be very good.

Once upon a time I made a decision to read all the classics as it were.

 

I read dickens, twain, homer, rand etc., but never got into war and peace.   Maybe I'll give it a listen.
